The Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle gives a mileage up to 40 miles per gallon under standard riding conditions. Its tank can hold up to 4.6 gallons of fuel. A whole lot of changes have been incorporated into the 2009 model. The YCC T-settings have been provided with Engine Control Unit to optimize the output of power in each of the gears. This incorporation has resulted in linear power delivery and achieves smooth riding experience. The engine which is 599cc is liquid cooled and contains 4 cylinders which have a compression ratio of 13.1:1. The fuel injection mechanism ensures that high compression ratio is always achieved for reducing engine braking and effective throttle response.

The subframe of the motorcycle is made of magnesium which in turn reduces the overall weight from the rear end of the machine. The rear and fork heights are adjustable and can easily accommodate different ranges of riders and tires. The clutch which is of slipper back type, is useful in lowering the speed and while braking. The engine’s six speed transmission delivers maximum acceleration and seamless power. The right handle bar switch can be made use of to control built-in timer.
