Ducati Motorcycles - 2009 Desmosedici RR

One of the raciest street-legal machines one can get in the market today is the Ducati Desmocidici RR. RR refers to Racing Replica. The Desmocidici RR was a true road replica of a MotoGP racing bike that became available to many motorcycle riders. It easily became one of the most sought after objects of motorcycle enthusiasts. Ducati recently unveiled the GP9 motorcycle as one of the latest in the series of 4-stroke V4 Prototype motorcycles. The GP9 has been in testing stage since 2008 and is finally released in the market. The 2009 Desmocidici RR is Ducati’s entry for the 2009 MotoGP World Championship.

The most distinctive feature of GP9 is a technology made from titanium, magnesium and carbon fiber. The carbon fiber frame is switched from the traditional steel trellis chassis, thus bringing the upper part of the engine to the level of the steering column. GP9’ engine is liquid-cooled, 90 degree V4 four-stroke, desmodromic DOHC, four valves per cylinder. The GP-derived 990 cc V-Four motor uses a maximum power of more than 200 horsepower with top speed after 192 horsepower. The GP9 has a six-speed cassette-type gearbox with alternative gears in place. The Desmocidici RR is a street-bike which embodies Ducati’s technology and wealth of experience in the motorcycle arena. The cult followers of the Desmocidici RR hail its performance and cutting- edge technology.

The Desmosedici RR aerodynamic bodywork is a 320 pound monster and can be described as “torturous” by the less limber bikers. With a retail cost of $72,000, many sports fans can only dream of grabbing this super bike. The motorcycle comes with a three year warranty. However, they are produced in limited editions.
